UAE, Egypt cooperation gets further boost – says UAE daily
The fraternal co-operation between the U.A.E. and Egypt has got a further boost with General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E, according to state news agency WAM.
Armed Forces, and Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, jointly agreeing on ways to achieve peace, security and stability, as well as combating terrorism and extremism in the region, a U.A.E. daily paper commented.
''The relationship between the two nations has flourished for years in perfect harmony,'' The Gulf Today wrote in its editorial today, adding that :''The Crown Prince has reaffirmed U.A.E.’s interest, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in remaining the best supporter of Egypt towards a new renaissance and a new start in order to enable it to confront different challenges in a patriotic spirit.'' ''It may be recalled that the U.A.E. was the first to sign a $ 4.9 billion framework agreement with the Arab Republic of Egypt to support its development programme and aimed at improving the living conditions, lives and human development of the Egyptian people through a number of projects,'' the Sharjah-based English daily said.
The support, it indicated, includes a grant of one billion dollars that has been transferred to Egypt last July, and an additional allocation of more than one billion dollars to help provide Egypt with part of its fuel requirements, ensuring the nation is able to maintain its economy, industry, trade and transportation during this transitional phase.
''The bond is mutual. President Sisi, on his part, has expressed his delight at the advanced level of cooperation between the two nations. He has also highlighted the development initiatives that the U.A.E. has been taking for the Egyptian people since the establishment of the historical relations between the two countries by the U.A.E.’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,'' the paper added.
''Interestingly, to meet the country’s urgent needs, Egypt’s state oil company, EGPC, will buy 65 per cent of its oil product import needs from the U.A.E.’s Adnoc for one year. The government approved the deal that covers gasoline, diesel, heavy fuel and liquefied petroleum gas used in homes, on Wednesday.
